Ionic Systems is a leading materials engineering company located in San Jose, California. As a manufacturer, researcher, and prime federal contractor for over twenty five years, Ionic Systems has been researching thin film materials, providing coating services, and manufacturing deposition systems and analytical equipment for applications worldwide in the semiconductor, photonic, optic, and microeletricalmechanical systems (MEMS) industries. We have produced material solutions to problems from providing increased robustness to electrical assemblies to producing self assembled quantum dot nanocomposites. Materials have been used to fabricate components and devices for a wide range of applications from thin film optics to chip to chip optical interconnect. We have produced thin films from room temperature to several hundreds of degrees on substrates from single crystal silicon to polymer sheets. Molecular engineering is used at the nanometer scale to produce thin film materials with designed in application specific properties.
Our expertise in thin film materials engineering enables device structures that provide performance not achievable with conventional material sets and processes. Our proprietary and patented technologies, such as our variable in plane index of refraction ( VIPIR TM ) nanocomposite and environmentally robust poled polymers, are at the forefront of monolithically integrating microelectronic, photonic, and MEMS devices.
Ionic Systems has provided processing and analytical equipment to most major microelectronic manufacturers worldwide, performed contract production on devices for commercial, military, and aerospace applications, and undertaken commercial and government funded research programs. Ongoing research has resulted in a patented position in molecularly engineered materials and nanometer scale structures and devices.
Our coporate focus centers on our strengths in material and device development. Prototype and low volume production are performed in-house while greater volume needs are performed using outside foundry facilities. Products have resulted from in house and federally funded government research and development. Materials and devices result from application specific development contracts for technology development partners.
We bring our twenty five years of experience to a wide variety of challenges and welcome opportunities to discuss materials development solutions for your problems.
